Tanabe was our starting point for our Kumano Kodo trek so we stayed in Tanabe only one day not realizing how much there is to do in Tanabe. If we ever come to Tanabe again, we will be sure to stay longer to enjoy all that there is to do there. It was great to have a deep bath tub/ onsen within the room. There was a separate lounge area and use of a lovely traditional Japanese bathrobe. The owner Ken was wonderful in organising my luggage to be shipped to another hotel. He came and picked us up at Tanabe and then dropped us at the trail head the next day. The room was a beautiful old Japanese room with tatami mats and futons. There is Aircon and a fridge/microwave, we made breakfast here but ate dinner in Tanabe before we arrived. The house is high on a mountain and you wake up to misty views, really beautiful. The village is close to the Kumano kodo start (20 mins walking or there is a bus stop close to the house). We arrived to Tanabe station from Osaka. The hoster picked us up in Tanabe! We could go to the supermarket and he recommended us a restaurant to have dinner (in the area, there are not so many). He was so kind and helpful!Guest review byPabloSpain

Nice, clean room. I was going on the Kumano Kodo the next day and the hostel is right by the busstop and touristinformation.
