Kagoshima in winter - Feb - can be very cold.

Kagoshima in winter - Feb - can be very cold. Food here is great and the Satsuma Japanese wonderful. Black is a lucky color in Kagoshima thus the my son's Rebnise basketball team wears black at home games. Taxis are always available at stations and it is not far from anywhere. A day trip to Ibuski's sand baths is recommended - on fine days. Plenty of public natural mineral water onsens are available. Shiroyama's has a fantastic view .The ferry ride and Rainbow Onsen on Sakurajima is great.

    Totally enjoyed it there.

Totally enjoyed it there. It's basically easy to get around and food options are plentiful. Try 'Shirokuma'- a specialty sweet there. I would recommend getting the various passes; they can cut down on your transportation costs. Select what you like and go, you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful city with all the comforts of a big city without the hustle of bigger cities like Osakka, Kyoto, or Tokyo. Highly recommend taking the ferry to Sakurajima Island and spending the day sightseeing there. There are multiple guided tours available to see the volcano tubes and lava flows. Truly a bucket list trip.

    Very modern Japanese city.

Very modern Japanese city. Unlike Tokyo/Osaka (where more English is used), Kagoshima is almost predominantly Japanese, so communication is very difficult for a non-Japanese. Some eateries were absolutely fantastic - like Satsuma, a little sukiyaki/shabu shabu restaurant, downstairs in an office building (really out of the way location). Only 6 stools, however the food was outstanding and extremely reasonably priced. Reminds me of restaurants becoming popular, so the owner downsizes to improve quality. The tram system is very reasonably priced and convenient so getting around central Kagoshima was easy. Major attraction appears to be Sakurajima Island - an active volcano.

Underestimated city with a great communication routes (planes/trains/ferries). Calm and quiet but it awakes at night. The volcano is majestic and I hope to see it from a closer perspective next time.

    1. The location. It's located opposite the Kagoshima-chuo station and surrounded by some shopping malls, restaurants and cafes. 2. The bed. They are using Serta bed, so it's very comfortable. 3. The view. It's an amazing view of Sakurajima from our hotel room. 4. The room. It's pretty spacious with a double bed, a round table and a sofa. Similar to the bathroom, toilet and bath/shower are separated. 5. The bottled water. Finally, we got drinking water inside our room.

Great location, especially if you like to go out. Plenty of restaurants and convenience stores around, and the place is within walking distance from Kagoshimachuo, but there are bus and railway close by as well. If you come from the airport with the Airport Limosine bus, it stops closer to the hotel (Tenmonkan). The room itself was fine, pretty much in line with what most hotels in Japan offer, but in service and amenities.

I have nothing to say but nice things about JR Kyushu hotel Kagoshima. It will be one of my favourite locations to stay in Japan and I would recommend it for anybody. So simple to use all the facilities close to everything and authentic Japanese breakfast. Loved every moment of it shame I have to go home.

The location is excellent for bus travels to Kumamoto, Kagoshima, Sakurajima and Ibusuki. Near to Shopping in Tenmonkan. We are very happy and satisfied with Hotel Sunflex. The housekeeping did an excellent job. To be commended for good working attitude

Our room was much more spacious than other hotels in Japan. The onsen/bath house was amazing with a sauna and cold plunge which we loved. The location was excellent with easy access to the station and everything we wanted to see in Kagoshima.
