Isawa Onsen is an onsen resort town adjacent to the city of Kofu in Yamanashi. It is home to a variety of onsen hotels and stand-alone spas, all with attached restaurants. In addition to the onsen based restaurants, Isawa has a range of restaurants and dining venues for all budgets. It is also home to a number of houto restaurants. Houto is a specialty of Yamanashi Prefecture and is a thick miso broth with meat vegetables and thick houto noodles. Additionally, there are plenty of convenience stores and super markets as well as a range of specialty shops on the main street of the town. Isawa Onsen Station on the JR Chuo Line allows you to travel to Kofu and Shinjuku. The town is suited for foot or bicycle.
