I loved Venice.

I loved Venice. It was clean and I love how there are no cars, everyone just walking around. Everything within close proximity. Whether you fly in or train in there are boats that take you into the area of Venice you wish to stay.

There is so much to see and do in Venice.

There is so much to see and do in Venice. We barely scratched the surface in our four days there. I will note the Vaperetto service does not run till 10AM, and the fare is $9.50 for a ride, so buying a daily pass can be a good value. But central Venice is easily walkable. Making advance reservations (or ticket purchases) is highly recommended at the key sites. Restaurants were a good value, but ask for prices if the daily specials include truffles.

I went to Venice with the words of some friends in my ears...

I went to Venice with the words of some friends in my ears about how much I was going to hate the place. Well - I was absolutely smitten with Venice - there was a pleasure, a sight or a joy around every corner. In ~2 days I visited all the major tourist attractions and also made it to Murano and Burano. It is true that the place is pretty touristy and I imagine that it could be overwhelming in the summer months. But mid-October was perfect weather and less touristique than I expected. I would happily have spent another 3-4 days in Venice had time permitted. Had a memorable dinner in the upscale Ristorante Moro near the Academia Bridge and a Vivaldi concert in the Chiesa Vidal. It was a perfect two days in a spectacular and fascinating city. Can't wait to go back.....

We didn't have much time in our schedule to take time to see all of Venice. 1 1/2 days - but even in that short time, it proved magical! It is a must see. We could have easily spent another day or two exploring and just enjoying the city!

Venice itself is a truly fascinating city, full of history and charm. What makes it even more special are the friendly people, great shopping opportunities, and delicious Italian food. No matter the season, Venice has a unique magic that makes every visit memorable.

Venice has to be seen and experienced.

Venice has to be seen and experienced. All the stories about the crowds are true. There are queues for the main sites but for good reason. The main streets are crowded but if you walk one or two streets away, you will have a much different experience. You need Apple or Google maps as you WILL get lost, you just get lost less when using the maps.
