FAQs about hotels in Sorrento

Colourful and Captivating

Overlooking the Bay of Naples and with views of the Vesuvius volcano, Sorrento is a colourful town in Campania. According to the Greek legend, it was the land of the sirens that had the power to enchant with their singing.

The town of Sorrento has gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque architecture, and a big variety of restaurants, shops and cafés. Built around the 11th century, the Romanesque Cathedral of Sorrento is the city’s most important landmark. The charming Bell Tower with the beautiful majolica clock is the first thing that you will notice.

The picturesque harbour of Marina Grande has some of the best restaurants in the city. Wander around during sunset and you will see fishermen cleaning their nets. Marina Piccola is the place to get a ferry to Capri, Amalfi and Naples.

Born in a garden of lemon and oranges, the traditional yellow liquor of limoncello is a unique aperitif or digestive drink. The mediterranean climate of Sorrento helps in the production of this famous refreshment.

Naples International Airport is located 6 km from the Capodichino district of Naples and about 29 km from Sorrento. You can stay in one of the Sorrento hotels, B&Bs and pensions that Booking.com offers.

Sorrento is a lovely town.

Sorrento is a lovely town. First went there during a Navy port call in 1988, visited many times while living in Naples 2012-2015, and happy to return in October - and again next March for a wedding. Limoncello is all powerful, and continues to pull us back!

I can't think of anything negative.

I can't think of anything negative. Most everything is within walking distance from where i stayed. Lots of restaurants, bars and shops. Weather in late September was fantastic. It was my first trip to Sorrento and was not sure what to expect. It exceeded my expectations.

The setting is magnificently beautiful, as are the views...

The setting is magnificently beautiful, as are the views from sea-facing places. There are plenty of places to eat, and the food is almost invariably well cooked and of high quality, and the serving staff almost always polite, efficient, friendly, helpful and quick. Prices of individual dishes range from quite cheap to very expensive - so don't be afraid to order the cheapest dishes or wines: the quality is invariably good. Getting around Sorrento involves dealing with steep stairs and ramps and steep, narrow, winding streets, often ɓusy with buses, taxis and cars (and groups of tourists). But there are quick, efficient buses to get you from the station to lower levels and back, and public lifts. There isn't actually much to do in Sorrento, and it's mainly a place to enjoy a scenic, panoramic stay and use as a base for visiting other beautiful, scenic.or historic places.

Sorrento is more affordable than other spots on the Amalfi...

Sorrento is more affordable than other spots on the Amalfi coast, but the huge drawback is that it is overly tourist-focused (Irish pubs?!) and you hear English spoken everywhere. The main avenue feels more like Las Vegas than an Italian coastal town. :(

Sorrento was an excellent place to be based as you can...

Sorrento was an excellent place to be based as you can access all other transport options to visit the other islands and places on your to-do-list also enjoy Sorrento itself especially when you want to chill out on a sunbed and relax after a couples of days of travelling

Perfect location for us and the view is amazing! Marina di Puolo and Bagni Regina Giovanna were in walking distance and with s bus it was super easy to go to center of Sorrento. Near to the Hotel Dania was also a mini market with excellent paninis. We also got a room with a view even though we booked just normal economy room, that was nice. Best customer service we have got in Italy, Monica made us feel so welcome!

Everything was great in our stay! Super clean, modern, exactly as the photos, 5 min walking from the bus/train station and 10 min walking from the city center. The breakfast included is simple, possible in 2 different cafeterias, one brioche or croissant, a coffee and a juice, but all were so good! I really recommend, one of the best places in Italy that we've stayed.

The room is exactly as described. Check in was smooth (at Hotel Grand Flora). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - spacious room and bathroom, large terrace with a swing seat, beautiful view. Room service every day. Great location - close to the main street, but a quiet sleep at night. A great find! Our favorite stay in Italy so far. Thank you!

It was close to the town so walking to and from was easy. The hotel itself was insane! The views alone were exceptional. The staff lovely and helpful. We have travelled to a few places in Italy on our trip and this hotel and location has been our favourite. We will definitely be returning in the future.
