Scicli is one of several towns in southern Sicilia worth visiting along with Modica, Noto and Syracuse. The cities of the Noto Valley have been rebuilt around the same time. Scicli is neither the largest nor the most interesting, but a pleasant, compact town where one can taste the characteristic baroque of the region. Once you've seen one, you've seen all - not completely true but there are certainly similarities. Beautiful baroque architecture, steeped in history. Quiet at night. Great food, amazing small bar/restaurant 'My Name is Tannoni ' just 5 minutes from hotel. The incredible history, beauty , food, people. It may be a long way to get to. It takes more effort than other parts of Sicily. In particular if you don’t want to drive. Do your research about best bus / train routes. Go with one of the big coach com companies. Don’t do by public transport. It will take you forever! It’s worth it once you get there. The scenery on the bus route is stunning also. It’s like a film set. The beauty every where. The history is mind blowing. I mean there are hotels, apartments and rooms in the list of properties managed by these very young sicilians who decided to go back home and try to change their city. Hats off to these guys, they made us feel welcome and were truly amazing. The room we had, had its own garden, we saw some of the other rooms and the main hotel and just gorgeous is the only word for it. Scicli is soo pretty we are going back for sure. The rooms have been cleverly and sympathetically designed and the grassed pool area is lovely too. It was great fun being picked up by the hotel tuk-tuk from beside the church where you leave your car and whisked a couple of minutes up to the hotel reception. Welcome fruit, water, and other drinks in the fridge. Huge bathroom with fresh and soft towels. Big rooms with interesting decor. Easy to find a parking spot. Many very good restaurants and bars nearby. Del Ponte Pizzeria must be visit. Both bars at the end of the street also. The Caffeshop at the central square is very good.
