Owner waited for us to arrive from far away. However, she tried to charge us a late check in fee even though we arrived at a decent time. ( 11 PM) P.S. There was nowhere mentioned you need to pay extra 85 euros after a specific hour.

Absolutely stunning place. 173 steep stone steps up the hill, you reach this hidden gem in the middle of the Ligurian mountains. From morning till night, all you want to do is gaze over the mountains, and you will never wish to be anywhere else. Leo is the perfect host and then a little more. Very helpful and extremely kind, and in addition to this, he is a great cook🍋 We were lucky to get a chance to participate in his wonderful dinner. Thank you! Every morning he serves a luxurious breakfast on the terrasse, we felt very spoiled💕 In less than half an hour, you reach the Mediterranean and can jump into the beautiful turquoise water from eg. Chiavara, Sestri Levante, or anywhere else. A must is to visit Portofino, either by car, bus, or boat, departing from several harbors along the coast. Charming villages everywhere, but the best part of going to the coast is to return to the mountains and climb the 173 steps to your calm and lovely place ⛰️. Down the hill, there is a wonderful restaurant, Ca' di Prei, with local dishes, and a bit further down is the Michelin trattoria La Brinca. Make sure to book your table well in advance!🍝 We loved the car ride up the steep and narrow roads, and we learned to appreciate the steps from the parking lot to Farmhouse Castagnola 64. By the way, make sure to bring home a bottle or two of Leo and Lu's own olive oil 🫒

DON’T CONSIDER MISTAKE… - It was wrong! - You never know… On our journey, we made a booking for staying overnight. We didn’t check the distance from the place of our friends. When we arrived to meet them, we were absolutely sure that our booking was our mistake. It was a bit tense when we were on our way for the stay. A little bit, because of the beauty of Italy, the real one. Tremendous countryside shining in the sunset covers some small inconvenience to driving by the zigzag road with one line and upcoming cars. We arrived at our destination at 9 pm. Check-in was till 8 pm… Hungry and tired. Can we check in? Our phones refused to work. We expected to go to bed hungry if we at least can get one. Long story short. Our hosts were expecting us. - Would you like some dinner? We happily agreed. There was an excellent pizzeria. Did I say excellent? It was a Michelin-star pizzeria. Sun was rolling over the mountains. I saw it through my glass of cold Prosecco – a compliment from our hosts. In the morning we developed our stay in this wonderful place. Simple and solemn church, narrow lovely streets, old vine nearly on the roof beautiful ancient villa, modern swimming pool with colorful flowers. And another delicious meal, the breakfast of your choice with watermelon juice and fantastic Italian coffee . Farid and Dario, we are grateful from whole hearts for your hospitality, and for this unexpected pleasure to spend some piece of our life in your spectacle villa, your friendliness, and the possibility to feel our belonging to this historical culture. We are looking forward to seeing you again…

We booked this accommodation for a weekend getaway and were absolutely delighted by the experience. The apartment is located in the heart of the mountains, surrounded by lush greenery and towering peaks—it was incredibly peaceful and calming. Every window offered a beautiful, serene view of nature. The apartment itself had so much charm—it reminded us of an old Italian countryside home, with a warm and rustic feel that made it truly special. Inside, everything was spotless and thoughtfully prepared. The place was fully equipped, including the kitchen, and we appreciated the attention to detail—there was even breakfast and plenty of coffee provided. It was incredibly cozy and welcoming; we genuinely enjoyed spending time indoors just as much as we did exploring the area. A perfect retreat—we would absolutely love to come back!
