Breakfast was delicious and staff was friendly and helpful. - the hotel seems to be brand -new. It is a very state-of-the -art hotel. The surrounding area is in the middle of a reconstruction phase. Once this is finished, the hotel will definitely benefit. All in all, we had a pleasant stay.

A Bastion of Old World Charm

The arrival point of low-cost airlines and cheap flights to Milan, beautiful Bergamo is a tourist destination in its own right. In the foothills of the Alps, the city is spread over 2 levels. The main sights are in the upper level, or Città Alta, where sloping, cobbled streets open into pretty squares.

One such square is Piazza Vecchia with its pavement cafés, beautiful library and elegant Palazzo della Ragione. Through its arches is the Cappella Colleoni, an impressive chapel with an ornately sculpted façade and even more ornate interior. The next door Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore has awe-inspiring frescoes.

Surrounding streets contain several Bergamo old town hotels and B&Bs, while surrounding the whole upper city are 17th-century Venetian walls. There are still remains of the Rocca, the castle that guarded them, and there is also a castle in San Vigilio, a hilltop village reached by funicular railway.

A funicular also descends to the modern town – Città Bassa. Nearby is the Accademia Carrara, a fine art gallery, and opposite is the GAMEC modern art museum. The Serie A club Atalanta FC play in a stadium to the north-east, while south-west is the train station from where buses to Orio al Serio Airport depart.

    It’s a beautiful small town with the old city at the top of a steep hill. It’s easily accessible by bus or the funicular. Walking round the old city is delightful and round each corner there are fascinating old buildings and churches. It’s a five star place to visit. Charming and interesting.

    I was totally impressed by the city.

    I was totally impressed by the city. I have not researched the city before going and simply by walking on the streets was positevly surprised by the cozy vibes, nice terraces and bars. It had a good mix of historical sites and more at leisure activities.

    The old city is really nice and it is walkable.

    The old city is really nice and it is walkable. The view from up there is incredible. There is plenty of paid parking available and there are a lot of signs. Be careful not to enter the non driving zone. My favorite place was the Basilica di San Alessandro, we went there the day prior to the San Alessandro's celebration and they were singing. We also saw the prayers at night time along the streets of Bergamo (in the old city).

    The old town of Bergamo is fascinating and well worth a visit. We spent one whole day slowly walking around the old Venetian city walls - with stops at cafes along the way. We would definitely recommend doing this. There are spectacular views and you really get a sense of the history of Bergamo.

    Great city to visit for a number of days.

    Great city to visit for a number of days. While the Citta Alta is very popular with tourists (and is fantastic), the lower city is also fantastic and filled with great shopping, restaurants and bars. Highly recommend as a destination and very accessible by car via the A4 and also by train.

    We loved our stay at LaViDaViò!! The appartement and its interior design was one of the most beautiful and stylish places we have stayed at in Italy sofar. Everything was very cozy, comfortable and we had everything we needed. Citta Alta is reachable within 20 mins walking passing beautiful greenary and parks. The communication with Alessandro and Corrado was super easy and friendly and they even helped us arranging a taxi for a very early return flight in the morning. Thanks again for a wonderful time!! We can highly recommend this place!!

    The whole of Bergamo is absolutely lovely, we were within walking distance of the old city and lots of lovely restaurants and bars. The value for money of the room is absolutely amazing, lovely bathroom and comfy pillows with a large TV. The host Martina is so so lovely and friendly made us feel really welcome. Would 100% stay here and visit Bergamo again, we had some of the best meals in Bergamo and the friendliest welcome than many many other places we have stayed in Italy over the years and felt so safe, will definitely be back!

    This stay must be one of the best ever. The room was clean, smelled lovely, chilly in the HOT summer. The views were as if we were in a movie. It was surreal sometimes to just stand in that terrace alone and look over the whole city. The Palazzo had great architectural features to admire. The host made us feel like we were a part of the family. Perfectly located in the center of Citta Alta, minutes from the funicular, with a direct airport bus right below. I will get back to Bergamo just to stay here again! Thank you G.

    Very good localisation - bus line no 1 from airport has its stop just in front of the hotel. It's about 7 minutes by foot to the railway central station if one wants to go to Milano or Lecco. It's also about 15 minutes walk to funicolare to Citta Alta of Bergamo. The street in front of the hotel is quite busy yet the rooms are really well acoustically isolated. A lot of restaurants and fast foods around. Tasty breakfasts in the hotel.

    We loved the room we were in, it was very clean and it had a beautiful view on the Città Alta. The cleaners came in every day and changed the towels and tidied up the room a bit.
