Djupavik is in a wonderfully remote area on the Strandir coast. It's reached by a well-maintained gravel road that follows the shoreline. The village itself is tiny, with the hotel as its only business. The hotel buildings are historic structures that were originally part of the fish processing plant from the 1930s, which is still standing. The hotel manager/chef gives an outstanding tour of the fish factory, very highly recommended. There's an art gallery with rotating exhibits in the factory. An excellent Icelandic breakfast is included. Also available are very good homemade soup and bread at lunchtime, and really delicious lamb, fish and vegetarian meals at dinner. The dining room is cozy and filled with interesting artifacts. The staff members are friendly and accommodating. Exploring the shoreline is interesting, especially at low tide. Hiking in the area is excellent, and the hills and waterfall above the town are interesting to explore.

Very well equipped kitchen which is shared with campers so maybe could get busy. The room, which was up stairs, was large and comfortable with the best view of our whole journey. We loved this place and would definitely come back to spend more time there. It was really handy having the Krossness thermal baths just up the road - there is a small shop, cafe and fuel nearby. Everyone was very friendly.

The host was super accommodating about our later arrival time and very welcoming when we did arrive. The view was truly breathtaking even on the cloudy day we were there, and the decor in the home was very lovely as well.

Lovely, cosy and spacious, well equipped cabin. The hot tub is a great perk (at the right temperature, not too hot and definitely not too cool) available 24/24. We used it a few times especially after the long drives through the Westfjords. Great location if you want to feel close to nature.
