Excellent location with back entrance on Temple Road and a short walk to the Dalai Lama Temple. Interesting shops in walking distance. Attentive staff (could be over attentive at times), excellent food with lots of choices for both breakfast and dinner. Very aesthetic and comfortable, with different areas for sitting inside and outside, and great views (depending on the clouds). Welcoming on arrival (thanks Kuldeep), friendly reception (thanks Savita). Excellent house-keeping. Great bathroom, comfortable bed, large room.

Best view of the Himalayas! Drive up and down the mountain to hotel was beautiful too! Absolutely immaculate property. Room and bathroom was luxurious. Staff is professional and sincerely kind. I had an issue of a local driver we met while in town that was to drive my friend and I a long distance 4+ hours away. When he changed the price and told us he wasn’t going to be the driver and we had to pay him more than half up front. We had to cancel as we did not feel safe and he became threatening and harassing me on the phone. I called the front desk and explained my worries as I did not feel safe leaving the property to explore. Tsaring helped us find a driver as I mentioned to her when we checked in, days before I met this local driver and she arranged safe travel. She even spoke to the man harassing me on the phone and he screamed at her too. I like this property because good people work here and really care for the guests that are unfamiliar of the area and in my experience helped me feel safe when I was being targeted. The staff is also very humble and never made us feel we had to tip them for their service. The drivers were professional and kind. One of the drivers picked us up on time even early as we landed early. Prices are very reasonable. He even took us to one of the temples and dropped us off and came back 2 hours later to take us to another area and even brought back my shopping to the hotel. The staff here is exceptional! 3 weeks traveling India and this hotel and staff was my favorite.

I had a lovely stay, even though it was short. The host was incredibly kind, allowing me to check in early and check out late to accommodate my night bus schedule. The room was quiet, warm, impeccably clean, and beautifully maintained and decorated, with a stunning mountain view. The property also features a café/restaurant with delicious food, and the breakfast, especially the Tibetan bread, was very tasty. Chodon went above and beyond to help me arrange a cab for Gulla Temple, starting the Triund hike, and getting to the bus station. The location is perfect, with everything within walking distance. If I return to McLeod Ganj, I will definitely choose to stay here again.

    The place was super clean — bathrooms and showers were spotless, and the dorm beds had privacy curtains and individual reading lights, which made sleeping in a shared room much more comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful: I arrived late, and they stayed open for me, even arranged hot water. The common area has a beautiful view of the valley and a rooftop where guests gather in the evening — great for meeting people. Wi-Fi was decent throughout.

    McLeod Ganj is such a beautiful place.

    McLeod Ganj is such a beautiful place. I don’t do alcohol or smoke anything but this place kept me high. For a week I stayed in Shalom backpackers it was a very good place and view from the hotel is beautiful (recommend). Checkout Morgan’s place, Tibet kitchen, Alt cafe and Queenies cafe in Norbulingka. You can rent a vehicle as soon as you get down from the bus(petrol bunk stop) Ramdeep Travels bike rental place. Sweet Punjabi guy will help you plan your trip. It’s difficult to find sensible people, most of them are junkies. Nature has its way of making you high you just have to explore with patience. This trip made me realise nature doesn’t really need humans but we humans need nature.

    McLeod Gunj is a Gem in the heart of Himachal.

    McLeod Gunj is a Gem in the heart of Himachal. Closest airport is Kangra which is about 45 mins drive and has direct daily flights from Delhi. Beautiful nature with snow capped mountains, trekking trails, mall road, temples and very calming and peaceful Dalai Lama Temple. The people of himachal have a long way to go in being hospitable for tourist. Also too many Hebrew speaking israelis who seem to believe this is their Tel aviv while speaking with local Indians. Hopefully the Indian government is looking into it before it gets too late..

    Best place to relax with family...

    Best place to relax with family... Enjoy your vacation at foot hills of shivalik range. Visit Dharamshala, war Memorial garden Experience tea factory... And lots of shopping.... Also visit the holi place of Dr. Dali Lama monastery.

    It's a wonderful place, with varied cultural influences, from local culture, to Tibetan Buddhism to the bag packer culture of Dharamkot. It's a must-see region, if you like to hike and meet new people from different backgrounds.

    The room and facilities at the hostel. Location too was good and with nice mountain view, and especially from our room on the highest (3rd) floor corner with a spacious and 2-sided sit-out. However, for senior citizens like me & my wife, the walks on either side to reach happening the more happening places or popular eat-outs of McLeod Ganj involved short but fairly steep & tiring climbs.

    Great location in McLeod Ganj, central to the main areas of sightseeing and also the Dalai Lama Temple. The staff were super nice, I appreciated that there was someone at check-in when I arrived at 1am! My room was super spacious, very clean and the bed was very comfy. I didn't eat at the cafe so I can't comment on that. Loads of water refill stations. Peaceful view from the rooftop.

    The view was wonderful, the owner was so nice he moved us to a better room, and that room was wonderful, we could see all the mountain, I fell in love with McLeod Ganj from that window. I deeply raccomend this place, was also the cleanest hotel I've found in India, with new bedsheets and hot water.
