We had a group staying locally and the driver overnight in Ryan's. Staff were excellent and this morning upon hearing that the driver was walking to where the coach was parked he was offered a lift by a member of staff. This was above and beyond expectations and greatly appreciated. Would be happy to revisit and also to recommend this hotel to groups we have travelling.

We had an amazing stay at the apartment Caher Cong Lodge! The place was spotless, really well-equipped, with a huge comfortable bed, a smart TV, a fully equipped kitchen and a beautiful sofa, it had everything we needed for a comfortable few days. The location was perfect — peaceful and scenic, yet close enough to explore all the beauty of the area. Communication was excellent from start to finish, and check-in was super easy. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting this part of Mayo!

There are lovely forest paths behind Cong Abbey that we enjoyed. It was fun to go into the pub/restaurant that was used in the old movie The Quiet Man. A lot of it was filmed in Cong. We really enjoyed John Burke’s Restaurant in nearby Clonbur. It was recommended by our host!

Cong is a beautiful historic village with its own dramatic ruined Abbey and the extraordinarily beautiful woods adjacent to Ashford Castle. There are many lovely walking trails amidst the huge trees - that include some redwoods. Sadly, many trees were downed during the devastating Storm Eowyn in January 2025, so a number of trails, including access to Lough Corrib beach, have been blocked. Also, be aware that this is a popular tourist area and buses can disgorge large groups at any time during the day. All the more reason to stay overnight!

Beautiful village and even during off peak season the scenery and entertainment was top notch. Fans of The Quiet Man need this little village on their to-do list. We visit every year at least once, sometimes 2 or 3 times with different friends

A beautiful , well-kept little village with so much to...

A beautiful , well-kept little village with so much to explore on foot. The Abbey is free to visit and there are several river and woodland walks leading from it. Lots of wildlife to be seen, herons, ducks and even a leaping salmon! Lydons was a great place to stay and to eat in. We only stayed one night but will definitely go back to explore some more.

Beautiful village.

Beautiful village. Probably one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been. Lots to do and a good location for several excursions. The restaurants in the village were all good. The service and the food were exceptional. The boat trip on the Loch was amazing. If I were Irish, I would move to Cong. I have never felt so relaxed and at peace. If you are a Quiet Man movie fan, this is the place for you. It was an added bonus for me.

This is a very charming town.

This is a very charming town. There is a lovely little river that streams through the town and there are great little trails that are fun to walk through. There are lots of cute shops and I bought some books about Irish history while there. Of course, Cong is famous for being the film site for "The Quiet Man" which brings in lots of people . This can make parking difficult, but the town is too nice to not stop and see.

The location is lovely. It's possible to walk to the village or Ashford Castle, and it's only a few minutes to drive to either place. There are restaurants and cafes in Cong village, but it is a tourist location, so they're relatively pricey. The self-catering kitchen is really helpful for saving money.

Ryan"s River Lodge is a warm and inviting place located along a scenic river as well as in the middle of the lovely village of Cong. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, especially Martha and her family! This was the best place we stayed in on our two week trip to Ireland. We'll be back!

Lovely breakfast and room, fantastic hosts. A bit outside of Cong and Ashford Castle so you do need a car (taxis are available too) or 20 mins on foot, there is a path the whole way.
