I had an amazing experience at The Gaia Hotel Bandung. The hotel is spacious, with a welcoming atmosphere that made me feel right at home. The staff were friendly and attentive, always going the extra mile. We (a school group from the USA) just stayed at the Pullman Bandung for three weeks. Everyone absolutely loved it and we can't recommend it highly enough! The rooms are lavish, and the Pullman's facilities are equally excellent—the spa, gym, pool, and amazing services to have on-hand in the middle of Bandung.The hotel's service was exceptional, and staff could be counted on at all hours of the day or night. The breakfast buffet is particularly good, with a ton of dishes to choose from or made custom in front of you. Moreover, the Sadrasa kitchen accommodated our many requests for specific (often complex) dishes—all of which were made to perfection. Geographically, the Pullman is ideally located in the middle of Bandung, so everything is a short drive away. All in all, we had an amazing stay and are sure you will too! We definitely will be back to the Hotel Pullman when we return to Bandung.

Colonial Town and Shopping Paradise

With a cooler climate than other cities on the Java Island, Bandung is located at an altitude of 768 metres, surrounded by tea plantations and the Parahyangan Mountains. This lush paradise was once a chic retreat for European colonialists and plantation owners, and still keeps some of its famous legacy.

During the 17th and 18th centuries, the Dutch East Indies Company (VOC) established several plantations and built a road linking to the capital, becoming the base for future expansions. At the beginning of the 20th century, chic restaurants, trendy boutiques, and luxurious Art Deco hotels helped Bandung to build the reputation of a ‘Paris of Java’.

Even though World War II stopped the Dutch attempt to move the colonial capital to Bandung, buildings like the magnificent ‘Gedung Sate’ remain witnesses of such enterprise. Other must-see landmarks are the ‘Gedung Merdeka’ and the Bandung Institut of Technology. Jalan Asia-Afrika street is still one of the main roads, and remains a popular area to find hotels in Bandung. The shopping areas are still a magnet for tourists, and many hotels, apartments and inns can be found here.

    The WHOOSH Speed Train was awesome fast, comfortable and gave us peace of mind traveling to Bandung. Travel from Halim (Jakarta) to Padalarang (Bandung vicinity) takes about 30 minutes at speeds up to 350 km/h. We recommend engaging a driver through Kiki Travel they were efficient and offered affordable rates, making the journey smooth and hassle-free to explore outside Bandung such as Lembang about 1hour from Bandung. Hygiene at this places is a major concerned cause they have to at least install a fly trap at the cafe and restaurant. Stunning view and nice location but lots of flies.

    Bandung is beautiful. Greenery everywhere. The food was good. People were friendly and helpful. The only thing is going to the recommended places like Kawah Putih (South of Bandung) or Orchid Cikole Forestry (North of Bandung) are quite far away which is fine but better to book a grab or taxi in advance if you want to go back to Bandung City since there is no grab or taxi around those areas. Or charter a car if you want to go to these places. It's a good thing our grab driver offered to take us back or else we may have some time to find a grab/taxi. Nevertheless, I enjoyed Bandung. It's beautiful!

    The traffic was absolutely appalling.

    The traffic was absolutely appalling. Admittedly we were there for the last weekend of the school holidays, + one extra. However, 2 hours to go 8.2 kilometres drove us nuts - and that was one of the better trips. Try 5 and a half hours to go 44 kilometres - and there was a LOT of time spent stationary. If you have a choice, don't come here - and definitely don't come during school holidays or on a weekend. We went to both Kawah Putih and Tangkuban Perahu (different days). They were worth seeing - but only if you can avoid Bandung traffic.

    I arrived before Ramadhan had finished, and the hotel catered a limited breakfast choice for tourists. I think this was very acceptable. However, as soon as Ramadhan had finished the food at breakfast, it was amazing. There was so much choice for everyone. The hotel was busy and had a great atmosphere. The staff were lovely and helpful. Our bedroom was great, lovely and clean and well maintained. It is one of the best hotels I have stated in Bandung.

    location is quite central, there is a big mall - bandung indah plaza just beside the hotel. There is also matahari and supermarket in the mall. staff were very friendly and approachable even the carpark attendant was very friendly and polite. Room was comfortable and clean, it was also quite big and sound proofing was good. Facilities were well maintained and clean.

    This is exceptional hôtel. Everything was very good. We stayed on 7th floor with Nice view on Bandung, almost 360 degrés. Nice pool, à huge choice of breakfast, Nice lobby, comfy Kepler bar in the sky, and friendly staffs. One spécial staff at the pool, the towel man, super friendly and did his job with heart. Pity we didnt ask his name! Stay healthy you!
