Spili is an attractive linear village situated on the edge of interesting mountains. It has a good assortment of stores and an excellent range of good cafes and traditional Tavernas. All the places that we visited were exceptionally friendly. It makes an ideal base for many excellent walks and car drives through very varied countryside. Very nice small own halfway between Rethymno and the south coast of Crete. Some good tourist shops. Some decent cafes. There is a wonderful restaurant Taverna Pirgos right off the main road from Spili to Rethymno - about 6 km north from Spili. Well worth a visitGuest review byJohnUnited Kingdom
