I think it is the nicest bay and the best beach in Leros and one of the best in the Dodecanese. However, here are some things to know: the beach is very long and very narrow, it has small pebbles and no sand; families with children must also know that, like in many places along the Aegean, the water becomes deep after a few steps. Alinda is, like the rest of Leros, not very interesting for travellers. The beaches are of mediocre quality at best and walking/hiking/taking a stroll is more often than not a hazardous operation, due to the narrow streets and roads without a trace of sidewalks. Alinda is located at the far end away from the ferry port town of Agia Marina. It’s nice and quiet with very little traffic. It’s more traditional than touristy. There are many choices for walks…both challenging and easy. Several tavernas were open even though it was off season. Lovely people! If you want to go further afield on Leros there are car hire places at Alinda. The buses didn’t run off season but they are pretty good during the season.
