Safe village with rich Svaneti Historical museum. Worth to visit Laghami church as well. In the country, which is famous for wines, visiting local beer brewery "Setieli" might be an exotic adventure and fun. Favourite place to eat Lanchvali restaurant, if too tired to get up to the hill, "Lushnu Our" might be the second choise, although too crowdy. Cable car get you up to Zuruldi masiff. We really liked Mestia surrounded by magnificent mountains. It's a small cozy town. Wooden and stone buildings perfectly complement the mountain scenery. As for food, for a small town there is a good choice of restaurants, cafes, and there are also small grocery stores. Hospitality and assistance of the staff and the quality of serving food was far the best we experinced within three weeks across whole Georgia. We tasted like 6-7 different dishes and 3x breakfest there and everything was just wow...They have a culinary treasure hidden in that kitchen - definitely must try (especially Shkmeruli). The owner was super warm, friendly and hospitable. The room was well renovated, it had a big comfortable bed, it also had heating. Bathroom was modern and clean with strong, hot showers. The food was some of the best that I have ever eaten in Georgia! the food alone should be the reason to stay here, the owner made the most amazing bread by hand baked in a wood fire oven, along with other amazing foods.
