Fabulous location by sea. Great communication from Simon and easy access to flat. I read the other review and the (very minor)issues have been rectified . Great for a couple for an overnight base to explore. Comfy bed and great waking up to noise of seagulls ! All mod cons in kitchen - Coop and fish and chip shop across the road - lovely 💕

Winchelsea itself is a fascinating village, plenty of history ,visit the museum and the church. Not a lot else there, but Rye, Winchelsea Beach, Pett, Farlight, are not far, and a lovely cafe in Icklesham.

The surrounding views from our windows were lovely.

The surrounding views from our windows were lovely. The Motel is situated in just the right position for our visit. We have friends in Winchelsea and Rye and it’s also close to Hastings and Tenterden. Also National Trust properties. Loads of walking opportunities and places to eat including Spikes restaurant at the motel One small downside was the pop up plug in hand basin leaked water when my husband was trying to shave.

Stunning village with lovely views and really interesting history. Great pub, shop and cafe, all staff super friendly. Beautiful countryside walks and cycling. Close to Rye and Camber Sands. The miniature railway from Romney to Dungeness is worth a ride.

The question as put means our answer is rather misleading.

The question as put means our answer is rather misleading. We did not have time to explore Winchelsea as we would have liked, but spent much of our time in Rye, a quarter-hour drive away and with enough to keep us busy ind interested for two days. We only scratched the surface of the possibilities of the wider area. In Rye, park as soon as you can in any of the car-parks at the foot of the hill and walk. There is masses to see, but the one-way system within the town can be a nightmare to the unwary.

Very charming place in this ancient house, beautiful garden. Breakfast was delicious. Host Alex helpful and friendly. He told us about the area, where to go. We would go again to spend some time in this beautiful place. There are buses just in front of the house. We were visiting Fairlight, Rye, Winchelsea, the beach and Hastings and went hiking in the area.

Excellent breakfast, spacious room, lots of teas and snacks in the room which was a bonus, lots of character to the property. Kate was very friendly and helpful. It's a very rural, quiet location out in the sticks but we had bikes so was a 20-30 minute cycle to get into Rye and is close to Winchelsea.

Everything, even their Heber black grand piano which they allowed me to play. Not all hotels, even the five star expensive ones, can have arrogant management that can alienate customers but not the Winchelsea Lodge. They were great and so accommodating and not in a patrionising way.
