Whitby is a gem.
Whitby is a gem. There are lots of independent shops for food, gifts, local products and clothing. It’s friendly and quieter in the week but buzzing at the weekend. You can sit and have a coffee/drink and watch harbour life just happen. There are 4 excellent museums: Captain Cook, RNLI, Whitby history and Whitby Abbey. Stunning views all round. Steeped in history. Trenchers seafood restaurant is excellent for food and service. I loved the old town, cobbled narrow streets, the 199 steps up to the Abby and leading to Whitby Brewery. The views from the top of the steps were absolutely beautiful. Lots of quirky characterful shops, great little pubs with wide selection of drinks and some wonderful restaurants serving amazingly delicious food.
