Visit for a weekend and stay on the peninsula over the bridge for the old fishing village charm. Around the old harbour good evening hang outs. Walk to Nothe castle and admire the old town winding alleys. If you go when the weather is fine you will enjoy clear sea water swimming. The main town shopping area typical of seaside towns, a bit run down. If you enjoy golfing Lodmoor park. Good for a family weekend or a romantic weekend. A good centre for either a beach holiday or for visiting the surrounding area. There is plenty of historical interest in the town particularly if you are interested in railways. The surrounding area provides good walking of the coastal path and the Downs. Loved the location right on the beach with a brilliant view over the bay, short walk along beach front to Weymouth harbor and centre, while being far enough away for peaceful nights sleep.
