I paid for the continental breakfast and it was really good. The hotel provided big mugs and the coffee was excellent. There was also thick bread for toasting with a good selection of jams. The hotel also provided different cereals, fruit and buns. The location can't be beat, especially if you're arriving by train as it is right next to the train station. The room was spacious and reflected the feel of the town of Stroud. The bathroom was large, with a big bathtub and lots of light. I was able to open the window in my room too, which allowed for lots of fresh air into the room.

What Guests Said About Stroud:

Stroud is a town with plenty of character.

Stroud is a town with plenty of character. There are many independent shops and alternative lifestyles are welcome. There are many coffee shops and restaurants. We especially enjoyed The Curio restaurant, King St, Woodruffs coffee shop and Rajat Indian restaurant. We walked along the canal to Stroud Brewery which has a good bar and restaurant. That was an easy walk. We walked up Swifts Hill, Slad Valley and had a drink in the Woolpack, not so easy but very enjoyable. This is a must for fans of Laurie Lee's books.

Stroud was not the focus of our trip, but since you ask I'd say that its former condition was probably rather better than its current condition. It doesn't do well when compared with Cirencester which really is a town worth visiting. Stroud is pleasant enough and good for shopping. Traffic is reasonable

We didn't stay in Stroud but in Amberley a village near by. It was fascinating, very interesting to walk around as long as you avoid the cow pats. Cows are allowed to graze and wander where they wish.

Lovely places to eat - lovely country views - travelled by bicycle. Lots of hills so at times you have to walk it but we enjoyed ourselves. Travelled by train would recommend making reservations for your bicycles. Ate at Egypt Mill, Casa Sabor and The Bear at Rodborough and loved the food at the Five Valleys. Recommend the Ice Cream shop called Whinstones which has been there for 100 years.

From arrival and for the entirety of my stay I felt welcomed, relaxed and comfortable. The garden room although the smaller room isn’t small, it’s so quiet and peaceful but yet only 10 min walk to town. The breakfast was nourishing and homemade and I loved the option to come down to the kitchen /dining room to enjoy when it worked for me. Kate is Friendly and conversational but happy to leave you too it. She has loads of info on the area too. Will definitely stay again if coming to stroud.

Excellent weekend stay. Great location to the Sub Rooms and in central Stroud. The staff were fantastic throughout, always cheerful and helpful. The room was modern and clean with great facilities. Tea, coffee and milk replenished. Bar and restaurant were excellent. Can recommend the smashed avocado and toast for breakfast. Able to park in the hotel car park so a bonus. Definitely will recommend and return.
