Ryde is a great place to visit.
Ryde is a great place to visit. The beach is particularly beautiful and has very pleasant walks along its length with lots of places to visit. There are also plenty of buses so if like me you don’t drive or as an alternative to driving, you can get to practically anywhere on the Island. Ryde is an historic town with many interesting buildings.
Ryde is an historic town with many interesting buildings. An amazing and unusual pier allowing both cars, train and pedestrian access to the end without being bombarded by gaming machines etc. Wide selection of shops. The main High St. is part pedestrianised but a timed closure of the rest to the seafront would improve the shopping experience and safety. If time permits walk around some of the back streets. Good location to travel down to south east coastline and to Newport. Tesco Extra nearby was very useful. Lovely view of The Solent from our bedroom bay window. A lovely short break. The quality of the staff far outweighed that of the hotel. It's in a busy high st with good eating choices, limited off road parking (with very busy traffic wardens) and Ryde is getting harder and harder to get into during summer season.
