Ramsgate is a delightful seaside town.
Ramsgate is a delightful seaside town. The harbour area is fab to wander around, the beach is wide and roomy, plus it was easy to walk along the beach / broadwalk to Broadstairs which is also a gorgeous town to visit (where we watched a band play on the band stand and played crazy golf). Parts very run down.But others bright and a lovely walk along the cliff promenade.A very good Pub at the harbour pavilion does excellent breakfasts and has a lot of family friendly facilities. Loved the beaches and the old beachfront landscaping and architecture, relics of the Regency era, including Pulhamite rocks, which was something new for me (fake rocks!). The sandy beaches were charming, and each beach nearby feels different. Also love the chalk stacks and cliffs - it's all very beautiful. Not as run-down as I was anticipating. Best Wetherspoons I've ever been in, sitting out on the terrace overlooking the sea, order from table via app, food and drinks very reasonable. Aperol Spritz £5! The harbour is lovely with a lot of history attached to it, lots of boats to see that have special meaning to Ramsgate being one of the Cinque ports. The old railway tunnel is a special place, owing to its use in WW11. You can easily get around the Harbour or town on foot or use the 'Loop'.
