We loved walking around the city walls and walking through...
We loved walking around the city walls and walking through other neighborhoods. The Bogside History Walking tour was well worth it. We would have liked to take another tour but did not have the time. The Tower museum was very interesting for a history of Derry and for a cute exhibit on Derry Girls. We also enjoyed the Guildhall and its exhibits. We regretted not being able to spend some time across the river to see the Unionist murals. We also recommend taking the train to Coleraine to catch the Causeway Rambler bus--very easy to stop at Giant's Causeway, Dunluce Castle, Bushmills, Portrush and other sights. Some veg-friendly food recs: Bishops Gate Hotel- only a few options, but really good. Visit the tourist center opposite the guild hall and do the walking tour with the local guide who was himself part of the Bloody Sunday March. Terry is the local guide who conducts daily walking tour. The tour starts from the outside of the tourist center and you can buy the ticket from the tourist center. I loved how clean it was. Everywhere we visited was welcoming not only to us but our grandchildren as well. From taxi drivers to restaurants bars. It is a beautiful city. There's so much history to this place. The city is changing and growing. This is my 11th annual visit and I've seen so many positive developments.
