We were using Lauder as base for visiting Edinburgh.
We were using Lauder as base for visiting Edinburgh. Just spent one afternoon exploring the town. Enjoyed sandwich and tea at a Deli and walked around castle grounds . Train into Edinburgh from Stow worked well. Also drove to Dunbar for the day.Guest review bySianUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I particularly enjoyed the warm welcome, and the atmosphere in the restaurant and bar. The food at dinner and breakfast was top quality. Butcher, baker, deli, post office and cafes in Lauder. Very close to all visitor attractions - this time, we visited National Museum of Mining , Trimontium Museum and Abbotsford. Lauder is a great village with everything you need.
Lauder is a great village with everything you need. Spotty Dog for coffee and a Scotch egg, Flat Cat Gallery for gift shopping and cake. There is a butchers, post office, pharmacy and co-op. Excellent accommodation within a beautiful building of great historical significance and set in magnificent countryside. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful making our stay relaxing and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend the castle tour. Everything you could require is provided and the apartment is furnished to a high standard and very comfortable. 2 good sized bedrooms, a good sized lounge and fully equipped kitchen. The bathroom is very modern with a fabulous shower. Lovely decked garden at the back with garden furniture. This was my second stay at this apartment and I have my next stay booked.
