Guildford is a lovely town with decent size and has everything there, but shops tend to close early. After 5pm downtown is quiet for most of the days. I enjoy staying there for 4-5 days, if longer than this it will be too boring. Not much can you do in Guildford. Quiet town - shops close at 5pm daily except maybe on Thursday for late night shopping. The Friary Shopping Mall was convenient. The bus services - bus station was also near the Friary and the buses were regular. Hotel and ‘compact double’ room were spotlessly clean and staff very helpful and friendly. The hotel has its own kitchen/restaurant and honesty bar area for breakfast and dinner and although we didn’t use this, it’s good that you can drink/dine in the hotel.
