The area around the castle is quaint and attractive. There’s lots to explore in the castle and the displays are interesting and informative. For eating and drinking you’re spoilt for choice. The town is steeped in history, is a fantastic location, and an ideal base for wider exploration of Snowdonia . My interest was in the little steam trains of Wales, of which there are an abundance within easy reach by car from Caernarfon. I choose the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland railways, but during the summer, there are several others including the Snowdon Mountain Railway, the Llanberis Lake Railway. If you are prepared to venture further afield, to the south is the Talyllyn railway near Barmouth, the Fairbourne Railway, also near Barmouth and a bit further south at Aberystwyth, the Vale of Rheidol Railway, all of which I highly recommend.Guest review byWg_Cdr_Andy_ThomsonUnited Kingdom - 10.0

You can see it in the decoration choices, or the mismatched cutlery in the shared kitchen. The hotel itself is placed in what I would say is the busiest, most interesting street, right by the castle. We talked to a couple of volunteers when checking in and they were extremely helpful at recommending places to eat and visit. No one knows more than the locals! Location is right on the front, close to practically everywhere you would want to go to in Caernarfon and our room had great sea views. Had a twin room and the beds were exceptionally comfy, one of the best I've slept in recently. Breakfast was in a nearby pub as the hotel is undergoing some refurbishment and was absolutely delicious, all served with a smile! Fabulous value at £75 a night.
