Super friendly staff and clean and complete room. I really enjoyed my stay at the Scholar. The hotel is located next to the beautiful nature area of Edinburgh. Walking to the city center took around 30 minutes, a perfect walk.

    Good quiet location but not much in Bonnyrigg or the surrounding towns. Handy for Edinburgh and Lothian coastal resorts. For us must see was nearby Roslin Chapel. Only nuisance was traffic on bypass at the nearest junctions.

    Excellent vegetarian breakfast, beautifully cooked. Spacious room, with plenty of cupboard/drawer space. Loved the original shutters, which completely shut out all light. Loved that the conversion to a hotel is in keeping with the original building. Often the conversion of similar buildings results in a more modern section, but that didn’t apply here. Cleaning staff seemed excellent.

    Excellent greeting on arrival by the concierge, Gavin. Lovely hotel staff made our stay even more enjoyable. Fabulous 7 course taster menu in the dungeon restaurant, an absolute treat. Great breakfast to start the day too. Take time for a walk around the grounds and the falconry centre
