we thought we were going to sleep inside the castle, instead we slept in a external dependance that was very nice and big. the bathroom was huge and with a bath tub breakfast and dinner were very good

Super atmosphere. It was really nice to stay here. Everything was clean, taken care about... I liked free access to fruits, coffee, tea, biscuits... nice breakfast in a very beautiful dinning room - special experience added to our trip. Supportive staff. Greeted by Kevin, the owner, who was super informative about getting about, and about our stay. The location of the hotel is great with easy access into the city. The rooms are big and comfortable with a great size bathroom. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with great variety offered. Kevin is an exceptional host, super friendly and welcoming, which will definitely guarantee us returning for another stay, when we head back to Edinburgh again.

The rooms were very elegantly decorated in antique and Royal style, giving an absolutely stunning ambiance, even a upgrade was made in the same price to accommodate a concern. Excellent dinner choice liked the booking for the dinner, food was cooked with great care and waitress and cook were great. The night crew was great. The breakfast was simple but also could be made based on menu choices.

I recently stayed at The Scholar Hotel in Edinburgh for 4 days and had a wonderful experience. The hotel offers a convenient parking spot in its courtyard, which was a great perk.     Good quiet location but not much in Bonnyrigg or the surrounding towns. Handy for Edinburgh and Lothian coastal resorts. For us must see was nearby Roslin Chapel. Only nuisance was traffic on bypass at the nearest junctions.

    Excellent greeting on arrival by the concierge, Gavin. Lovely hotel staff made our stay even more enjoyable. Fabulous 7 course taster menu in the dungeon restaurant, an absolute treat. Great breakfast to start the day too. Take time for a walk around the grounds and the falconry centre

    Beautiful location, room was lovely,clean, comfortable, with roof top balcony, however room was up 6 flights of stairs with no lift. I know it is a castle but other castle hotels in area do have lifts installed. Restaurant is on lower level so more stairs.
