The hotel is situated just outside of the town, and is within 8 kilometres from the A6, so ideal for visiting the region. The hotel is very well appointed, with large rooms, and comfortable beds. The bathroom has a walk in shower. There is a kettle, tea and coffee, and a large TV. There is also a restaurant, reasonably priced, although we did not use it. The swimming pool looked very inviting, but we did not have the time to use it. The staff were very helpful and pleasant

I think Semur-en-Auxois has just become my favourite place in France! A beautiful town full of warm and friendly people. The location of the property is superb - a very easy walk to the beautiful church and restaurants. Easy parking (though I got a bit blocked in, a friendly passer-by helped me out!). Great restaurants nearby and a lovely market on Sunday morning. The apartment is beautifully decorated, comfortable and well-equipped. The host is incredibly attentive and helpful - she sent us a message to let us know the Tour de France might interfere with our travel plans, and the bathroom is stocked with spare toothpaste for those of us who are a bit forgetful. We definitely plan to return.

Beautiful property, gorgeously done out with lovely internal architecture. Spotlessly clean and comfortable beds. Ample parking outside and a lovely garden for our dogs - and the host did not charge us any extra for them. He was very helpful and kind, 10/10. The location is perfect, a few minutes walk into the town which is beautiful. Would 100% recommend this place!

Burgundy is real secret place to be , full of surprises and nice people lot's of ancient places , the countryside, the peacefullnes the food , the wine ... a perfect getaway

Semur en Auxois is a beautiful old French town.

Semur en Auxois is a beautiful old French town. My wife worked in the Burgundy area many years ago but had never visited Semur until our recent stay. We stayed in the older part of town and had a very relaxing experience. Ample Restaurants, Bars and Cafe's with friendly staff. A friend told us we must eat at "La Cuisine de la Fontaignotte" restaurant. The only reservation we could secure was for lunch 3 days in advance as all dinner reservations were already booked. We took the opportunity for lunch and had one of the most memorable meals I can recall. It is hard to say the preparation and presentation were superb but in this instance they were. The staff were busy but attentive and our small group of friends had a wonderful experience. First Class Cuisine.

The town is vey old and the buildings beautiful.

The town is vey old and the buildings beautiful. The setting is extraordinary being on a hill in the loop of the river. The guide books say visit the church. Not possible for us on a sunday evening. I feel we missed out. In late march not many restaurants were open but the one we went to was very nice and reasonably priced

Semur-en-Auxois is a gorgeous medieval town, perched high on old (and crumbling) ramparts. The old town has some colombage and other old buildings. The views of the river from the ramparts are fabulous as are the views of the town and bridge from the river below. Getting into and out of the old town can be tricky if you're not familiar with it.

Everything! I can only confirm what most other reviews have said. This is exactly what a great chambre-d'hote should be like. Not jet-set luxury, but homey, clean, tastefully decorated and furnished, and attention to detail that I've rarely seen in any other accommodation. Add to that a friendly and interesting host, good breakfast, and central location, and it made the visit to Semur-en-Auxois worth the trip just for the accommodation itself.

The hotel is independent and has no chain affiliations. It is beautifully and conveniently situated and totally in keeping with the surrounding heritage. Rooms are comfortable and ours was sympathetically updated with everything working very well. Breakfast is served by humans. Parking is easy.

Once in a lifetime kind of accommodation in an old fort in beautiful Semur-en-Auxois. Spacious rooms and beautiful kitchen. Patio overlooking the valley was an added bonus.
