The town is pleasant and very walkable.
The town is pleasant and very walkable. The chateau is smaller than better-known ones to the east, but its charm and beautiful exhibits, coupled with the unique history of the house and gardens, makes it a definite destination. The chateau hosts a famous garden festival in late May. There are also Gallo-Roman ruins worth exploring within 10 km, with a pleasant picnic area. In Le Lude, I enjoyed Anglo-French pub fare at the Rose & Crown, and was treated like family.Guest review byKedreCanada - 6.0

Le lude is fairly typical of french towns, the soul is dying and locals struggling to maintain services. Eg, bar centrale is shut, rose and crown open but no snacks, shops closed up, tatty appearance generally. Despite my lack of enthusiasm in this review I feel that tourists should try to support local providers where possible even though the experience may not be as superficially glossy as corporate hospitalityGuest review byAli GUnited Kingdom

The bedrooms were lovely, beautiful decorated and very comfy beds. Delicious breakfasts with homemade jams, homemade yoghurt and banana bread. Le Lude Chateaux was just a few minutes walk down the road and was lovely. La Renaissance restaurant nearby was excellent. Lovely to have a swimming pool too.
