You can't go wrong here, it's close to Lyon yet in the heart of wine country you can go cheap if you choose to shop only at Carrefour or Leclerc, or you can go big at Beau Rivage, Bellevue or Chez Henrioux in Vienne. We stayed in a suite overlooking the Rhone, which was very spacious and comfortable. The rooms are a little outdated and could use some minor repairs, but I think that's part of the charm :). We particularly liked the large terraces and the very large and bright bathroom. The restaurant was exceptional, not cheap, but worth the experience. The breakfast was also good.
