This city has so much to offer. It is a very walkable city, but also has great public transport. The landmarks and attractions are easy to access, and are all in relatively close proximity so you can plan a full day of excursions. Great city, fabulous tram system, plenty to see over 3 days and the river trip is excellent. We did not buy a City Pass, just a 3 day tram pass and this was more than enough. Bordeaux is a great historic city with elegant eighteenth-century and medieval areas to explore, a centuries-old connection with wine production and export based on its position on the wide River Garonne, some excellent museums and galleries, and a an interesting and easily-accessible hinterland. The city is extremely diverse. The sentence that came to me to describe it is it's a chill French ghetto resting on timeless history - and I mean this in THE best way possible. People are SO diverse, it's like everyone's free to be whoever they wish to be and noone getting into anyone's business about it. At first it seems a bit chaotic but after about half anhour it becomes just lovely really. Historical building are cool, as they are anywhere. My two personal favourites were the Darwin ecosystem and Passage Galerie Bordelaise - spent my last morning at the first and last lunch at the latter.
