The city is much more lively than Bastia with a nice art museum a historical museum and several beautiful beaches not far (3 miles) from the city center. Unfortunately, I booked an all day boat trip to Bonifacio which was cancelled due to rough seas. I recommend starting your acquaintance with the market, then visiting the cathedral. After getting to know the cathedral, visit Napoleon's house. We loved the industrial feel of the building. And the position of the hotel. Easy to access from the main road near the harbour. The check in time of 12 noon allowed us extra time to look around Ajaccio. The swimming pools at the top were great, we were able to spend time here before check out as it wasn’t till 12noon. Easy to recuperate keys. This is an apartment with character (probably inhabited by the real owner, when in town), with a few really beautiful old furniture, a classy apartment!
