Trujillo is a fascinating historical city with plenty to see. Take time to wander the streets and visit the museums. The Tourist Office, whilst helpful, could not offer guided tours in English and our 2 hour tour in Spanish was challenging even if you have a good level of Spanish. But it did introduce us to back streets which I didn't see the last time I was in Trujillo. It is also only just over an hour by car to Guadalupe, Caseres, Placensia and the National Park. Stunning scenery. We lucked out the first night finding the amazing Alberca Asador restaurant near to our hotel. Our review of Trujillo was very good, the locals helpful in giving us directions of the different places to visit. The weather was great with 24 degrees Celsius and a cloud free sky on the 31sr of March and the first of April. The town is small and lies in a western hillside facing the planes below. The streets are narrow and do not invite drivers to speed through. We felt that with respect and courtesy to the people walking in the streets, driving is possible, but the best way of enjoying the views of the town is by foot. There is no lack of places in Trujillo for quenching your thirst or filling your stomach. The nerve center of the town is the Plaza Mayor and the best views of the town and surrounding scenery from the ramparts of the fortress on the top.Guest review byEivindNorway - 10.0
Everything in Trujillo is wonderful.
Everything in Trujillo is wonderful. The old mediaeval city, where all tourists stay, has accommodation for all budgets, and it's all good. The city is small and perfect for strolling around in cobbled streets. If you have a car stay on the outer roads because the city streets are really narrow. There are regular coaches from Madrid throughout the day, and one each day from Barcelona. Cáceres, 45 minutes away has lots of coaches to every Spanish city, and to Lisbon in Portugal , plus a mainline railway station. This was Spain's capital after the Conquistadors were in Mexico and Peru. Many Spanish people consider it to be the most beautiful of their cities - quite a claim since Spain has the highest number of UNESCO cities in the world @15. The restaurants are ALL astonishingly good, all on the Plaza Mayor or streets off it, with fabulously presented food. Classics and modern Gastronomía at mid level cost. The smaller cafés all offer brilliant Spanish breakfasts and cakes at excellent prices. The whole region offers some of the best birdwatching, walking trails and landscape photography in Europe. Other marvellous cities that are 1 or 2 hour drives include Plasencia, Cáceres and Merida. It's also perfectly possible to visit Portugal for the day from here.Guest review byAlexanderSpain - 10.0
We loved Trujillo.
We loved Trujillo. Beautiful historical buildings all located within east reach of the plaza. Plenty of very good restaurants and tapas bars. Not crowded unlike places such as Toledo and Cordoba. Very good tourist office. One of our favourite places to visit in Spain alongside Seville. Because Trujillo is located in Extremadura and is quite remote it hasn’t been spoilt and overrun with tourists.Guest review byGrantUnited Kingdom

It has free parking directly outside. It was a bonus as old town Trujillo has very narrow streets and not a lot of parking. It is around a 10/15 minute walk into the old town. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The owner is not on site but was great on Whats app with lots of suggestions of what to do and where to eat.
