The Spanish Soul of Art and Entertainment

Modern Madrid is one of the greenest cities in Europe and the most popular destination in Spain. Whether you want to experience its legendary nightlife or a flamenco show, this is the place to be.

The renowned Museo del Prado holds one of the world’s finest art collections with iconic paintings by El Greco, Velázquez and Goya. For more modern touch, the Museo Reina Sofia houses Picasso’s and Dali’s most respected works.

Start your evening at Puerta del Sol, one of the city’s busiest spots. Make some room in your stomach for great tapas and sangria in La Latina district, south of the city’s most famous plaza, Plaza Mayor.

Real Madrid plays at Santiago Bernabeu and Atlético Madrid competes at Vicente Calderón Stadium, two opportunities that no sports fan will want to miss. The popular Salamanca district is a great place to look for boutique gifts and unique shops.

Thanks to great public transportation system, getting to the city centre from Madrid Barajas International Airport is very easy. Whether you’re looking for luxury hotels, budget hostels or comfy apartments, Booking.com has a perfect place for your Madrid holiday.

If you choose the right location everything you may wish to see is within walking distance (we stayed at the Catalonia de la Sol - lovely hotel and perfect location). If you use the metro it is easy and clean. The Mercado St Miguel is not a market - it’s an eating place; busy but well worth a visit. Lots on offer and delicious. The 360 bar at the Riu - go there! Wonderful views. Madrid - it delivers!

I really enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of Madrid, the beautiful architecture, lively streets, and variety of cafes and restaurants made exploring the city a delight. My favourite places included the Prado Museum, Retiro Park, Plaza de Mayor, Gran Via and the historic city center. We ate at several local tapas bars and traditional Spanish restaurants, all offering delicious food. Getting around Madrid was very easy thanks to the efficient metro and bus system. For groups of friends, I’d recommend visiting rooftop terraces, enjoying a flamenco show, exploring local markets, and taking a walking tour to discover hidden gems around the city.

We enjoyed our holiday. Beautiful sites and delicious food. We found it easy to get around and very clean. I would suggest hand sanitizer. We found no soap at the train/bus station, on the train and in some restaurants. Thankfully I had my own.

It is a great and very interesting city to visit. The traffic is very bad and I would not recommend renting a car. The metro is very clean and efficient for travel. .We love the area where we have stayed twice, around Principe Pio. There is a massive park. There are good vibes and lots of young people. There are lots of restaurants in the Principe Pio complex.

Madrid is a reasonably compact city which is easy to get around and to travel to and from. Lots of interesting and pleasant squares, parks, shops and cafes. Highlights are its cultural heritage of world class museums and palaces, worthy of a capital city.

Elba Madrid Alcala is an affordable hotel with amazing facilities. I have stayed here a few times and it exceeds expectations. The rooms are spacious and quite big in comparison to what you get in the city. It is however about 20 minutes away from the city centre but the metro is walking distance from the hotel and it takes about 30 minutes by train to get to the central area. The coffees in the cafè are delicious!

The location was excellent, offering quick access to the metro compared to other hotels near the airport. Some alternatives required taking a bus, making the journey to the city centre longer. Despite the minor inconveniences, I would definitely stay at this hotel again if I visit Madrid in the future.

The best choice for the city centre of Madrid. Next to plaza del sol but at the same time quite exterior environment, which in combination with the great soundproof of the hotel creates a peaceful environment to relax during the night.
