Green Automobile Pioneer

Stately Stuttgart is friendly and green. Surrounding the city are tree-lined hills, while in the centre is the ‘Green U’, a series of parks and gardens that make great picnic spots.

The city’s focal point, Schlossplatz is a huge square with a tall column marking the entrance to the New Palace. Dating back to the 10th century, the city’s Old Palace is just opposite and its square is the site of the Stuttgart Christmas markets.

In the Bad Cannstatt area of Stuttgart are mineral spas, the 2nd largest in Europe behind Budapest. Just south of here is what the city is perhaps best known for – its car industry. Head to the architecturally-impressive Mercedes-Benz World for a spiralling walk through its history. On the opposite side of the city is the Porsche Museum, also worth a look.

Always something of a pioneer, the city erected the world’s first TV tower. Go to the top for amazing views. Other interesting Stuttgart attractions are the planetarium, and Stuttgart Zoo, housed in the Wilhelma Palace, built in Moorish style and once home to royals.

Before heading to Stuttgart Airport from your Booking.com hotel, apartment or B&B, make sure that you try some local Swabian food. The brezel (pretzel) originated here and makes a very tasty snack.

On this trip, I simply wanted to eat local food and visit the Mercedes Benz Museum. Although I arrived on a Sunday, which can be a good day to travel, I had no trouble finding a small restaurant with interesting pizza options near the Unger hotel, which is about a block from the main train station. I was able to purchase a three-day public transit pass at hotel reception, but had difficulty finding a machine to validate the pass because many of these machines were broken in the transportation center. I came prepared with an S-bahn map, so I had no trouble getting around. I enjoyed taking a bus (45) from Bad Canstatt to the Mercedes museum. It was easy and I discovered a cafe that sold canollis in the Bad Canstatt train station that was memorable. I am looking forward to a future visit to make more discoveries and see the Porsche museum in a different area.

The church in front of the hotel rings its bells every 15 minutes, from 6 AM to 10 PM, creating a lot of noise. The hotel does not have air conditioning, so it was warm during our stay, and opening the windows only increased the noise. Additionally, there was no hair dryer and fridge in the room. The hotel's location is not very close to the city center but close to public transport.

I visited Stuttgart during the day with children.

I visited Stuttgart during the day with children. My children loved to play in the fountains in front of the library and we loved the library itself. Museum of optical illusions was nice. Stuttgart also has nice parks, a big climbing hall and a nice, traffic free, shopping centre. My teenager sun was over the moon with our Five Guys dinner. We travled by train and tube, which was convienent. Except, they where rebuilding the train station and therefore we had to walk quite long before we were actually out of the station. But above all, Stuttgart is a nice city to visit with a family.

    Stuttgart was nice.

Stuttgart was nice. The food is great and there is a main area that everyone goes to at night where the fountains are and people perform for free. That area reminded me of Bryan Park in NYC, but it was nice to see. Also there are a lot of luxury stores and the Porsche store next to it, which was a nice mini preview of the museum. I would 100% come back to Stuttgart for the Mercedes Museum, as it is about a 3 hour experience and VERY nice. The Porsche Museum you could honestly skip, it's about 20 minutes and after visiting the Mercedes Museum, you will not be impressed.

The trip was great, despite being a little too crowded, the city is full of life and activities to do. I went during the jazz music festival and there were lots of open air concerts and fun activities around the city. The city market is beautiful and has lots of interesting food to try. The Porsche and Mercedes-Benz museum are a must! Both full of history and technology, totally worth the trip.

The room was great. Saw reviews about old carpets but my room was new with wooden floor. Guess the hotel is updating in process. Location was near train station and superb steakhouse. Train station is under construction which made walking to hotel a slight detour. But not really a big issue to my family with 2 kids, age 3 and 6 years old.

Location is really great. City center, Stuttgart HBF and Chrismas market is within 10-15 minutes walking distance. The house can accommodate 8 people very comfortably, the space is suitable for this. We wanted to leave our luggage at the house before the check-in time and they helped us.

Nice and small hotel close to the city center. Located in from of a small lake (more of a pond) with a church - rather unique view. Clean, well maintained, but old building. The room was large enough (for 4 people) and comfortable. They have a basic breakfast.
