Mittenwald has a lot to offer for all ages and interests. The historical city centre has a number of sights and a good choice of restaurants - for many the real beauty begins once you leave the city. From taking cable cars, walking along the river or through the forest to climbing peaks up to around 2,500 m, the natural surroundings are stunning. The city does a good job at offering public buses that take tourists to the most important sights and trailheads, giving us the chance to leave the car at home and help preserve the gem that Mittenwald is!Guest review bySebastianGermany - 10.0

We loved wandering through the town, looking at all the painted façades of the old buildings. There is a variety of walks from Mittenwald. We did the walk to the Leutascher Geisterklamm, beginning at the Koboldpfad & completing a figure 8, crossing the Panoramabrücke twice. We also took the Kranzberg chairlift to the top, then walked to the Lautersee, down the Laintal, following the waterfall & back to Mittenwald.Guest review byT - 8.0

The view of the beautiful Alpine Triangle is stunning. We were very lucky that on the first day we arrived, the weather was clear and sunny, with a strong sun that made for great photos. When it was time to leave, the weather turned gloomy and it started to snow heavily, with big, fluffy snowflakes. It was great to watch a concert from our balcony on our last evening there. Although a parking space is included, we opted to arrive by train and went everywhere locally by foot or public transport. Lovely walks in surrounding area and easy access to Karwendel cable car, chairlifts and Leutasch gorge walk.
