Clean, spacious rooms with lovely balcony and views. A great start to a Costa Rica trip or the end of it. Hospitable households. Picked us up from the airport and arranged a transfer the next morning to Poas volcano with a final stop at La Fortuna. We booked one more night at this hotel before flying home. The staff at this place is truly amazing. I haven't seen this level of service anywhere in Costa Rica. They truly care about you and want to make your stay as special as possible. Food is also incredibly amazing. And I'm a picky eater but the cooking is unbelievable Green area is very beautiful and very well maintained. Very quiet.

We liked everything. We loved the brightness, the cleanliness and the accommodating staff. The breakfast has a large variety of delicious food. Also it's in a great location, right by a huge mall. We reserved a room with a king size bed but it was a queen size. After a long day we needed more bed space. I asked for a room with 2 queen beds which they rradily gave us without any extra charge.

this hotel is a great find. As far as the value goes, I don’t know if you can beat it. The facilities are clean and have everything you need. Air Conditioning, that works, hot water, a pool, and it’s very close to a bunch of places to eat.

    I was there one night because it was close to the airport. I would not hang out there for a significant length of time. Not a good place to be after dark. Also came across a suitcase on a sidewalk. It had obviously been stolen and rummaged through.

    Just a medium sized town with everything you need.

    Just a medium sized town with everything you need. There is a Wal Mart, Denny's and lots of other restaurants, stores and cafes. There is not a lot to see in the town for tourists, but it is easy to get into San Jose where you can get a bus to Jaco which has a great beach. You can walk into the town easily and it felt very safe, but I recommend taking the local bus. I would only go here to get to another place, but for a day or 2 it is a nice town to visit.

    San Jose and the area around the airport doesn't have much to recommend it beyond getting in and out of the country. After driving around for two hours to see the highlights, we agreed we couldn't get out of the city fast enough. We ate at the Taj Mahal location near the hotel (had come highly recommended as we'd heard it was the best Indian food around and was an iconic location with peacocks walking around, etc), but the airport location is just an open air restaurant in a strip mall next door to a Starbucks.

    Alajuela was central for us as we visited La Paz the first...

    Alajuela was central for us as we visited La Paz the first day and it was an easy drive back after hiking up and down to see the waterfall and gardens at La Paz. Served as a good jumping off point the next day for a visit to downtown Sam Jose, the National Theater, the museum and central market.

    Alajuela has everything I like in a city without much down side. It's clean and safe with many markets, shops, malls, transportation options, green spaces and restaurants. It even has a large dance school.

    We spent 30 days in Costa Rica and loved it.

    We spent 30 days in Costa Rica and loved it. Alajuela was only for flying to and from Costa Rica. It has horrible traffic and nothing worth seeing that I know of. But its airport has better flight connections for us than Liberia airport. The airport itself is good, but getting in and out is a hassle!

    The breakfast was hands down the best breakfast I had in Costa Rica. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we're cared and catered for. Special shoutout to the bartender Tomas, Jen (reception girl with the dog!) and Angie the waitress. Those people were beyond hospitable and they're the heart of the property. The restaurant is very underrated because we had some of the best food in San Jose right there. Folks staying usually ditch the hotel and go to eat outside, trust me, you have to try the food in their restaurant!!

    Very cute hotel that stayed true to it's original architecture and beauty. The breakfast (additional cost) was delicious and the staff was friendly. The hotel was centrally located in the city center of Alajuela, and a short drive from the airport. Would return when I come back to Alajuela!

    Incredible night panorama of San Jose and hospitality of the hosts! Considering the breakfast included, views and flexibility of the staff who let us have breakfast a bit later to catch a sunrise, it’s a bargain and probably the best choice in Alajuela!
