A lovely surprise indeed. The castle and the restaurant was a pleasant surprise but we couldn't enjoy as we were staying for the night. We will hopefully have the chance to stay overnight and enjoy the restaurant and the wine testing.

This hotel is a true hidden gem that the photos simply can't do justice. While the decor might look a bit dated in pictures, in reality, everything is incredibly well-maintained and of high quality. From the moment you arrive, you're met with a comfortable, cozy, and heartwarming atmosphere. The owners' passion is evident in every detail, and their hospitality makes you feel right at home. The location itself is a highlight. It's a pleasant, though not short, 20-minute walk from the station, with a choice of paths either through nature along the river or by the main road. This neighborhood retains a charming, traditional character, which is a welcome contrast to the anonymous, functionalist architecture found in other parts of Winterthur. I wasn't planning on having breakfast, but I'm so glad I did. It was the perfect opportunity to slow down and enjoy the quality of the spread – from the local cheeses and breads to the surprisingly good tea selection, nothing felt low-cost. For about the price of a single draft beer in Switzerland, it was also incredible value. And to top it all off, there's a charming hotel cat! ❤️

    Museums, old town, C&A shop reasonable for students, friendliness of people, excellent service and everyone spoke English and courteous to us. People went way and beyond to help us - 1 patifnrt took us to train station to help facilitate student train pass.

    It's a charming place on its own， with lots of good...

    It's a charming place on its own， with lots of good restaurants and small town charms. We had the best borscht at this restaurant Schafli, and a great time visiting Sammlung Oskar Reinhart Gallery where there were many Cezanne, Renoir, Van Gogh and other masterpieces to appreciate.

    We pre-arranged to arrive after midnight. The hotel is opposite the rail station and access via keypad easy and secure. They had upgraded us to a quiet (garden facing) room which was very comfortable and much appreciated as were very tired after a delayed flight to Zurich and late arrival by train in Winterthur. In the morning we enjoyed a really excellent breakfast after which we were able to do a quick tour of the old town before collecting our bags and getting back on the train to our next destination.

    This oasis in the middle of Winterthur was completely delightful, beatiful property with historical significance and within walking distance from train and buses. Close to the historic Old Town of Winterthur. Our hosts were wonderful, lots of knowledge of the area and very willing to share their knowldge if requested. Breakfast was great, all organic, and lots of room to dine. Added bonus; we stayed here at the end of our trip and it was just a short train ride from Zurich Airport for our return flight.

    This hotel, was perfect location for the festival I attended in Winterthur, and only 10mins walking distance into the main village. I was solo travelling and felt completely safe as young girl on my own in this hotel. The main guy on reception was very pleasant and kind. Breakfast was also very good too. Would come again, if I was attending the festival again.

    The location is great. It is a good option for a one to two nights stay. We were able to upgrade to a room in the Ibis city and for a very generous price for which we are very grateful to the lady who was in charge.
