    Gorgeous city, extremely clean, and wonderfully kind culture. The food is fantastic and the language is beautiful. We brought our small children of 5 and 7 and the Swiss culture is very family oriented and children friendly, often prioritizing to ensure they are entertained at meals with crayons and coloring paper. The scenery is unlike anything you will ever see and the beauty is indescribable. So many places to visit and things to do. Not to mention the transportation methods are extremely convenient and free so long as the tax is paid within the city.

    As long as you’re prepared for the cost of food and drinks...

    As long as you’re prepared for the cost of food and drinks it’s wonderful. We stayed four nights, and did a couple of day tours which were great. It meant we didn’t see as much in the actual city as we could have. A good reason to visit again.

    Lucerne is a charming, beautiful city which is still large...

    Lucerne is a charming, beautiful city which is still large enough to have good accomodations, restaurants, shopping, and transport hubs while a bit smaller and quaint than Zurich or Basel. We used it as a base area to explore different areas of Switzerland as it was an hour or so by train from Bern, Zurich, or Interlaken area. We enjoyed the Mt Pilatus day excursion from here and our cruise over to Weggis on Lake Lucerne.

    I went to Lucerne specifically to visit the Richard Wagner...

    I went to Lucerne specifically to visit the Richard Wagner museum which is excellent. A boat trip on the Lake is a must on a lovely day, but get to the tivket office early or book online. Finding breakfast if you are not happy to ‘grab and go’ was something of a challenge! Remember that Switzerland has a different plug to that used elsewhere in Europe - to buy a converter locally was expensive (30CHF), like everything else in the country,

    A walk around the old city, eating and drinking by the river...

    A walk around the old city, eating and drinking by the river and lake are musts. But you also have to travel the lake and visit a lakeside village and take a trip up a nearby mountain such as Pilatus. A four night trip felt just right

    Beautiful quaint town with lots to see.

    Beautiful quaint town with lots to see. If you don’t like crowds it won’t be for you. Costly to eat, however supermarkets are plenty and offer reasonable value. The Lion Monument is well worth a trip to see as is the fortress and funicular up to hotel for a drink.

    We stayed at the Businesshotel Lux only one night on our way to North Europe. The hotel is only a short drive from Lucerne, a beautiful medieval city with covered bridges, historic buildings and lively squares. After a lovely sight-seeing tour we chilled on the Ufschötti Strand beach. They say " when in Switzerland do like the Swiss do" and they were all there relaxing under the trees on the lawn or on the large sandy beach. The Businesshotel Lux has free parking and a pleasant breakfast included.

    “We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Spatz in Lucerne. The administrator was very friendly and helpful, and it was great to have the flexibility of an early check-in or leaving the car in the hotel’s parking. We also really appreciated the guest tickets, which allowed free trolleybus rides to the city center and even discounts on the lake boat trip. The accommodation was comfortable and had everything needed for overnight stays. A good choice for visiting Lucerne.”

    Fantastic location. Very near to the train station, 10 mins walk. Rooms are spacious. Switzerland doesn't have air-conditioning so they provided us with fan and a electric cooler. Staff is very nice and helpful. I had heel pain and needed ice pack. They vacummed a bag of ice and made instant ice pack and gave it to me. Room cleaning, bathroom cleaning were exceptional. All in all, if you are in lucerne, hotel Rebstock is highly recommended.

    Great hotel, ideal location- we had a car and there is a big multi story car park across the road which the hotel do a good rate for. The hotel gave us free transport pass for around Lucerne & we used the train station which is a 2 min walk to go to the centre of Lucerne in 7mins. So handy and extremely easy. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were lovely. Our room was comfortable and very clean. Highly recommend this hotel.
