Lunenburg is an historic fishing town on the waterfront settled in the 1700s. It's worth a visit, and not too far from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Walk around the hilly streets for a self-guided tour, as there are signs in front of churches and on several street corners describing the history.

I came for the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, and stayed 3 nights. Food at restaurants was good. More restaurants should be open for early breakfast, Loved the shuttle service for the Festival. Grand Banker's lobster roll was delicious. Fish and chips at the Dockside were great.

Lunenburg is a good location and cute town to explore the mid-eastern area of Nova Scotia. One day we kayaked with Pleasant Kayaking, which was a 15 minute drive. It is a highlight of our trip. The town of Mahone Bay is nice too.

It’s a charming, lovely town, a UNESCO site.

It’s a charming, lovely town, a UNESCO site. A fishing town. Every building is a work of art (except the new ones.). Lots of history. And great seafood. The Fish Shack was a popular bustling place, outdoor patio overlooking the water. Take the Seaweed Tour from the waterfront. Nancy the owner is a great storyteller and the two hour tour takes you to several great coastal spots.

We were probably 2 weeks off the start of the tourist season, so Lunenburg itself was VERY quiet. Stores closed by 4pm/5pm and restaurants closed by 8pm. We were THE ONLY people out walking at 8.30pm around the waterfront and within the town. Oven Park was closed, as were many of the other nearby attractions. I would suggest your time your visit around the tourist season. The town itself is absolutely beautiful being a UNESCO site and we really enjoyed walking around a sightseeing. It is a beautiful town. Also, all of the restaurants we ate at were delicious. Salt Shaker Deli & Inn. The South Shore Fish Shack. Dockside Lobster & Seafood Restaurant

The quiet countryside setting was just what we needed after a couple of days on the road seeing the sights! The accommodation was nicely designed and had everything from an old cherished piano to a full sized fridge! This was a lovely place with a great location between Lunenburg and Mahone Bay!
