A very different experience to most other places in Europe. In some ways chaotic… for example roads and traffic but everyone just gets on with things. Initially people may not seem friendly but as soon as you interact with them then they are… especially those in hospitality. Tips are not the norm or expected but are gratefully received. There are a number of sites to see in the city and lots of history. The House of Leaves is a must visit. Also well worth a trip to surrounding countryside such as Lake Bovilla and the mountains. A nice place to relax after a week or so travelling around Albania. The historical parts can be covered in half a day but better with a day. Nice to sit back and people watch, walk around the lake and go up the sky tower in the evening. A walkable centre where most of the sights are. Super city break location with choice of day trips out of the city. Amazing architecture and green spaces with sculptures. Friendly and welcoming people with a complex history. Tirana is a fabulous place to visit and 7 days was not enough to see everywhere. The city is busy and bustling and there is loads to do within walking distance. The mountains and lush greenery are surrounding you ,the tree lined streets offer shade on busy streets.It's a busy city, but still there is greenery everywhere and the smell of Jasmine. It was easy to walk around Tirana from where we stayed, and in general is an easy to walk around city. The food at traditional restaurants is good but travelers should be aware that some restaurants are cash only. There are plenty of money changers and it is worth shopping around as rates vary. If arriving by bus, we arrived at the north/south station which is some way out of the city be aware the taxis drivers will quote a price rather than use their meter.
