Reviews we read of Shkoder said it's a university town with lots of biking. Not sure what those reviewers were writing about, but there weren't many bike friendly areas and the town was not as vibrant as we expected. We did spend some time in the Shiroka area on the lake a 10 minute or so drive from Shkoder and that was very nice - good restaurants and lake activities. Shkoder is a lovely city with great views, food and nice accommodation facilities. It's a safe place for families and youths with lots of activities around. We really enjoyed our time in Shkoder.
We really enjoyed our time in Shkoder. I liked how there was plenty to do and see in town, and also very close to Theth which is a must see. We also booked a tour of the Shalla River and that was beautiful too! The thing that was challenging was riding on the local buses that don’t always have good air conditioning and are full with passengers in the summer months.Guest review byMcMellen

The room was big, very comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. Joseph and his wife were very welcoming and were so helpful with all our questions. We wanted to hire a car so he brought my husband to a local car rental place close by. Breakfast was included and we got the best croissants in Albania! He was a pastry chef in France for many years. Perfect location in the centre. Niko was great and helped us book our travel to Valbone, organising someone to come pick us up from the apartment. The shared bathroom was kept clean and had access to a washing machine. He also held our luggage for 3 days at a very reasonable price. The area was fantastic. The reception staff (Yolanda, young guy - Duanis??😁, Ida) were all super helpful and friendly helping g us with parking and every need. The ladies in the breakfast room take every care to provide a nice breakfast. Bravo! The room was clean, bed comfortable and large and decorated in a charming Albanian way!
