The experience as enhanced by our stay at the Hotel SS Kekezi a unique family run hotel full of character and a fantastic breakfast. The owner was so helpful. Castle was big, but we liked Berat's better.
Castle was big, but we liked Berat's better. Hills are brutal to climb. Cars going in opposite directions on the same street are often a problem. If you are not on the main streets, gps will tell you to make near impossible turns. Very nice, clean city.

The historic city center is only a few steps away. The location of the hotel is simply stunning and allows an excellent view over Gjirokaster. We came late and there was no problem for check in. It has a luxurious but relaxed vibe, children were very well received. We did get lost on our way there in the narrow streets of Gjirokastër.
