We arrived late one evening and hadn’t been able to book whitewater rafting for the next day, so he made it happen for us with a personally guided tour that was an absolute highlight of our trip. This is a family run business that hires indigenous locals (you can buy some beautiful handicrafts on site) and is practising sustainability.

The accommodation is non-smoking. I’m giving this stay a solid 10 across the board. The apartment looks exactly like the photos on Booking—clean, stylish, and thoughtfully arranged. Israel, our host, was warm, friendly, and incredibly accommodating. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. There was always plenty of hot water, and while we only made coffee, the kitchen was well-stocked for cooking. The apartment is located in a fairly quiet area, making it easy to get a good night's rest. Like many places in Ecuador, you might hear the occasional barking dog, but it was never disruptive or constant. I woke up feeling refreshed every day. One highlight of our trip was visiting the nearby Botanical Garden “Las Orquídeas”—a must-see. Be sure to take the guided tour to fully appreciate the 25-acre rainforest conservatory and its incredible biodiversity. In short, I highly recommend staying here—this is a top-notch apartment in a perfect location for exploring Puyo.
