We had a wonderful 3 days at Nha Lua Homestay and could easily have spent a whole week here. Although the accommodation is a little away from the tourist centers of Ninh Binh and Tam Coc (approx. 30-35 min by scooter or cab from the bus stop in Tam Coc, ~300,000 Dong), it offers all the more peace and authenticity. The rooms are very tasteful and super clean. The garden with many plants and the pool in the middle is wonderful, it feels like you're swimming in the middle of the jungle. The owners built everything themselves and are incredibly hospitable and helpful. For example, we were allowed to leave our luggage in another room on check-out day and use the bathroom and shower there free of charge. Both breakfast and dinner are freshly prepared, beautifully presented and very tasty. Totally fair value for money! Scooters can be rented at the accommodation for 150,000 dong/day, so you can quickly reach all the attractions in the region and get a taste of 'real life' in Vietnam along the way. We would stay here again anytime and can fully recommend it! We wish Hoang and his family all the best :)

TOKI is awesome! Be sure to make a reservation--I made the mistake of waiting too long and we had to move after 4 nights. This is my top pick in the Ninh Binh area, where I travel frequently for work. The place is gorgeous and in an ideal location-- away from all the backpackers! I loved everything about it and I will absolutely return. They have another location called the cottage in Ninh Binh and I am eager to check that out as well.

Even though we didn’t speak a word of each other’s languages, the host took the time to sit with us we had a pleasant conversation through Google Translate. It turned into a memorable evening with a very smooth rice wine. Wish we could’ve stayed longer. The next day, one of our motorbikes had a flat tyre. The host made a phone call and soon there was someone to replace the tyre.

This cozy homestay was one of the highlights of our trip! It’s in a quiet village surrounded by rice fields and limestone mountains, super peaceful and authentic. The family is incredibly kind and welcoming, and the food was honestly some of the best we had in Vietnam. A special highlight was the tofu-making workshop, such a fun and unique experience! We got to make fresh tofu from scratch and eat it right after. So delicious! If you’re looking to get off the beaten path and experience real rural life in Ninh Binh, this is the place. We wish we had more time!

Accommodation at a local homestay, very surprised about the price, the price is very cheap and the room is clean, has a beautiful view, the location is very convenient to visit attractions such as Van Long lagoon, Trang An, Bai Dinh, the owner has cheap motorbike rental.
