Beautiful accommodation and a friendly, helpful owner! We felt very comfortable. Very clean room, very comfortable bed, and a beautiful view! The ride to the hotel was an adventure in itself; it's amazing what tuktuk drivers can do. The free tuktuk service to and from the city center was so nice. The only thing that bothered us was some loud work/noise outside beginning around 7am in the morning. Depart from that it was really quiet, and all we could hear was just nature! We can recommend this hotel to everyone, we really enjoyed our stay :)

The location—and especially the view—is stunning. The owner is an incredible lady: so friendly, so helpful. I was bitten by a leech, and she took such great care of me, even bandaging the wound herself. The breakfast was full of delicious goodies and easily the best we had in Sri Lanka. I don’t have enough words to describe the amazing food and the warmth of the host. The room was clean and located on the main street. You might hear some noise at night, but nothing that disturbs your sleep. It’s a bit far from the city center, but that’s not an issue—tuk-tuks are easy to get and very affordable. The bed was big and comfortable, and the view from the room was breathtaking. Overall, it was such a beautiful experience. I truly recommend this place. Communication was easy, and it was actually the most well-equipped room we had: fridge, free water, toothbrushes, even sanitary pads for ladies. The host was so thoughtful—when we left, she gave us snacks for the road. Big thank you!

Everything was very clean. We had hot water, toilet paper, soap, and good wifi. The breakfast was very delicious and every day we had something different. The family was welcoming and helped us in every possible way when we asked. It is literally in the middle of nature, very quiet, green, and you can enjoy the sound of birds,insects. Highly recommend Mountain Shack if you want a relaxing, quiet stay in Ella!

What a stunning location and such a friendly and kind family! The rooms are absolutely stunning and the location genuinely unbeatable. You do have to be prepared to walk up and down a large flight of stairs to benefit from that beauty but it is totally worth it. The hosting family were extremely helpful, kind and thoughtful. We would not hesitate to recommend this place to any traveller looking for somewhere off the beaten track!

This is a real gem. We booked the family room and the double room which were both clean, comfortable, and nicely furnished. The view is just incredible and so relaxing. The scenery in the morning is just amazing when you see and hear all the surroundings waking up. From the start, we were welcome with such a nice friendly atmosphere and they went over their duty to make us happy. We all absolutely loved it and will come back.     For what you pay, it’s a brilliant deal. Good location - few mins walk from Ella town, laundry for cheap on site, very helpful staff and clean sheets and fairly comfy beds.
