They served delicious breakfast for a nominal fee. Could have a warm shower. Enjoyed talking with owner. Very close to all the Lamu action. Owner had connections with others who could help with boat transfers to airport, town tours, boat race viewing etc

Everything! It is such a lovely place that will make your stay in Shela a beautiful memory. Super cozy, spacious, full of light, with all amenities, drinking water, non stop electricity even during power cuts, great ventilation, chilled vibe and above all a constant support by Chris and Reuben, who have been great in all terms and made us feel like home. The house is a beautiful gem within old lamu town. The architecture is stunning, the rooms are freshened by fans and the pool is great to escape the day’s heat. The house staff is incredibly helpful and Peter was a great caretaker. We would also warmly recommend arranging a tour of the old town and of shela, as well as a boat tour if one wishes, with Abu. Abu is knowledgeable and loves his job; he is a great storyteller and a great artist (ask to see his recycled art). Walking around Lamu with him and learning about this unique place from him was a wonderful experience.

This was genuinely one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The bungalows are amazing, every little decoration thought through, with wonderful views of the sand dunes, I felt like I was in paradise. The food is great, staff extremely kind and helpful and the location stunningly beautiful. The place felt very much chich and high end in spite of being an eco-resort: the bed was amazingly comfortable, the bathroom spacious and clean and the room overall was just stunningly beautiful and comfortable. They even gave a kenyan phone and a bluetooth speakers, which I thought was brilliant. For the price, I found this resort to be a steal and I hope to be back someday. If you're looking for a place immersed in nature where to disconnect and soak in the beauty of starry skies, sand dunes and empty beaches, look no further.

    One of the nicest accommodations in Kenya i have been so far. Arnold is a great host who has a lot of tips for Lamu. The place is very clean and ideally located in Lamu Town.

    Subira House was perfect as a sole traveller and for an extended stay (10 days). Kiki, Paul, Mohammed and all the staff made me feel really welcome and I met so many lovely people through the social dinners and breakfasts. Breakfast was amazing and the location was ideal in the middle of the old town. Have already recommended to friends and will stay here whenever I'm back in Lamu
