The host is very welcoming. It's a pleasure to talk to him, ask him about your plans or ask him to book a restaurant or call remote onsen. He recommended us the best restaurant for dinner we have ever had in Japan. It's just a 10-minute walk. What a treat. The room is in an older house, which is the traditional Japanese house. You share a bathroom and toilet with other guests (max 4 people share this, so that is fine). The room is great, spacious, and the air conditioning works superb. We came by car, but the host is willing to pick you up and drive you to your next destination. The host speaks English very well. I highly recommend this accommodation.

Perfect villa for family holiday ! Super clean , well maintained with a lot of attention to all details. In the middle of the forest , which is calm and nice (dont forget the stinky bugs as well :) ) The room has everything you need and even more :) The rooms are big and very spacious , in room private onsen and sauna are also available, which is great for calm relaxing evening ! Super great host!! He was so nice. The accommodation has everything and I felt very welcomed. It is a 10 min walk from the Imaichi train stations. The private room is extremely comfortable and in Japanese style. The dorms were also great but not so comfortable because moving in your bed affects the other 3 people in the dorm. The 4 beds are part of one single structure, similar to a capsule dorm.

Great place if you want to stay in a traditional house but with modern facilities. We had everything we needed on site. The room was big as it was composed of 2 rooms that could be separated with panels to have a sleeping room and living room. The location is close to the station, close to a supermarket, etc. The host was so kind, and so helpful. At arrival she gave us some maps, pointed interesting spots and even drove us to the station to show us the bus stop for Nikko Wonderland for the next morning. We were offered an amazing breakfast, and also little gift when we left. 本当ありがとうございます！

Our vacation in Japan was filled with nice people but the owner of this house was the nicest and friendliest in the whole country. We really felt so welcome and everything was made available to us to make our stay wonderful. We have great memories of being in Nikko but staying in this home was the best decision we made and we hope you stay here too.

The owner went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and at home. Cooked us a delicious breakfast even though it wasn’t included in the price and drove us to the station (only 5 minutes walking) so we could definitely catch the bus/train. Very clean house, comfortable futon beds and working air conditioning. All in all we had a fantastic stay at an authentic Japanese home and can only recommend Arai house. If we ever have the chance to come back to Nikko we would definitely stay here again
