Yes it is a little hike up a hill, but we were received with warmth from the owners and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. Three of us stayed in the refugios, and our two camping mateswithout a booking were given a safe place to pitch a tent. The rooms were extremely comfy, with many blankets and had an emsuite bathroom with endless hot water. Outside the room is a lovely balcony with massage rollers, exactly what was needed this stage in the trek. The food was the best food I have had on salkantay, very veg and vegan friendly. There are coffee tours on site and a little store that sells the cheapest bread and fresh fruit/veg.when we left Mery gave us all Oreos and a banana for the road.

The weaving was very special- we collected nearby plants to make the dye and was taught by the owners and one of the elders the full weaving process. Of course, the rooms and view were beautiful. I was blessed with Lama visitors in the morning which was very special! I am definitely coming back to try the other activities and spend more time.

It is 15 minutes walk from the main central area…which is completely fine. The shower had hot water, but the water was a bit unstable (sometimes the flow came strong, sometimes low… but it was okay for us). I recommend this place!!
