The owner welcomed us warmly and gave us a very interesting tour of his museum, telling us a lot about the history of the village and Omani culture. He is dedicated to preserving and restoring his village and has found a great way of doing so. The hotel is in a beautifully restored old Omani house, complete with narrow stone staircases, carved doors, thick walls, uneven floors, is furnished with traditional rugs and chests, and full of beautiful old items. The room is comfortable, complete with a good-sized fridge, AC, wifi.... A delicious buffet dinner with traditional dishes was served in the evening at the terrace while a more basic packed breakfast (because of ramadan) was served the following morning in the room. We had a great stay! Just a piece of advice: if you try to go to the wadi/natural pool where you can swim, ask for very detailed instructions first. We were told how to go there, and it sounded straightforward enough (maybe we are just good at getting lost though), but despite following the instructions (at least we thought we did) we couldn't find the pool. We walked for at least an hour, first following the footpath signs, then the canal, but somehow we must have misunderstood something or missed something along the way, because we never found the place were to swim. We had a beautiful morning hike though, through spectacular mountain landscapes and green oases, so it was still a very worthwhile hike.

Nice little traditional house turned hotel, super friendly and welcoming staff! Got coffee and dates as we walked in, we were shown to our rooms and as we were heading for dinner we met the owner who explained everything down to the family history to us! Really nice place, would definitely recommend staying here! And we got a little leaving gift as well!

It's a traditional mud house with an authentic design, frankincense aroma, and an ultra-hospitable host who told us all about the area and great places to visit.
